Two major classes of silicone amines:
1. Primary-Secondary Amines
These are aminoethylaminopropyl-based amines.
These aminoethylaminopropyl-based silicones can be water-soluble or dispersible, depending on the silicone backbone and number of pendant amine groups. They are used in personal care and textile applications to provide lubricity and softness. 100% active.
Amino-functional polydimethylsiloxane. Excellent durable gloss for automotive polishes and hard surface cleaners. 50% active in mineral spirits and isopropyl alcohol.
Insoluble silicone amine fluid for use in textiles and fibres for softness and lubricity. This product is highly branched and is therefore substantive. Silamine Di-AEAP has a higher amount of amine groups than Silamine ME for better reactivity and substantivity. 100% active
2. Solubilized Primary-Secondary Amines
Where the aminoethylaminopropyl silicone is solubilized with polyether groups.
An aminoethylaminosiloxane polysiloxane with polyether groups for improved compatibility in aqueous solutions. Provides soft feel and conditioning to hair care products or soft, hydrophilic hand to textile finishes especially bath towels.
